This week

Good morning,

I hope everyone is well and has enjoyed a safe and peaceful Easter. Let’s hope that things continue to improve as we progress through the next term and the lockdown measures continue to be eased. Twice weekly testing of school staff continues and we will still be working within the existing bubbles so that if a case is confirmed, close contacts can be easily identified. We have come through this really well as a school and I hope we can all continue to work together to keep everyone as safe as possible.

Lunch is Week 1 of the new menu, and please remember that school lunches are now £2.35 per day.

Fruit is provided daily for children in Foundation and Class 1, however, fewer children are choosing to have the fruit. We do encourage them to have some but please remind your children that a mid-morning snack is good for them. For the children in Classes 2 & 3, I would encourage them to bring some fruit for a mid-morning snack too, they have lunch at 12.30pm, which makes their morning somewhat longer.

PE continues as last term for Class 1 (Monday and Thursday) and Foundation (Thursday). The children in Classes 2 will not have PE on a Thursday morning and Class 3 will not have PE on a Monday, this is because swimming on a Friday afternoon takes the place of one PE session.

On Friday the children in Foundation 2 and Classes 2 & 3 will start their swimming sessions. The safety video will be shown to the children before they go. Please also ensure that the correct swimwear is provided as well as a goggle form if you wish your child to wear goggles – no form = no goggles (that is the pool rules). I have attached the form. The children in Classes 2 & 3 will travel by bus and will be seated separately in order to distance the bubbles. The children in Foundation 2 will travel by school minibus with myself and Mr. Walker. Some parents choose to collect their children from the pool in Retford, if you do, please inform office@sturton.notts.sch.uk so that we know and please be at the leisure centre entrance at 3.10pm, the bus will return all children to school and will not wait. I have enquired at the leisure centre as to whether the spectator gallery will be open. I would assume it will be closed in order to reduce numbers in the building. As soon as I have confirmation, I will inform you.

Please Vmake booking for EarlyBirds and Afterschool by the end of today to office@sturton.notts.sch.uk

Monday sees the start of ‘The Big Pedal’, a SUSTRANS national initiative to encourage as many people to walk, scoot or cycle to school. More details will be shared with the children as they return to school. https://bigpedal.org.uk/

I look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

Enjoy the weekend weather.

Regards

Mark
